Rui is a dual-chartered engineer, registered with the Engineering Council through the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). He has more than a decade of experience spanning high-rise residential, commercial, healthcare, heritage, and heavy industrial projects.

He holds a PhD in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Sheffield and is recognised for combining academic rigour with practical solutions. His portfolio ranges from leading fire strategies on nationally significant infrastructure such as the £4.4bn BP Quad 204 FPSO, to complex built-environment schemes including Manchester City Club Stadium Expansion, Musgrove Park Hospital, Middlewood Locks in Salford, and large-scale residential developments and façade remediation programmes across the UK.

Before founding Artec Fire, Rui led national fire engineering teams within major consultancies. He is valued for his calm, strategic leadership and ability to resolve complex design and compliance challenges, while also contributing to international fire safety standards and peer-reviewed publications.

Chris is a chartered fire engineer with extensive experience delivering performance-based fire strategies that integrate seamlessly with architectural design. He has worked across residential, education, retail, healthcare, and high-performance industrial sectors.

He has led fire strategies on prominent projects such as Battersea Power Station Phase 3, The Whiteleys redevelopment in London and multiple UK university campuses and R&D facilities.

Before co-founding Artec Fire, Chris held senior roles at one of the UK’s top engineering consultancies, where he led regional teams and helped develop national fire safety services.
